Thanks Ninjas for all the donations you made to the various sites with our CWW program. Whether it was giving food,  painting walls, brick making, dancing and playing with local children, it all goes towards making the Philippines an even better place to live. Listening to your reflections has been really interesting. I hope you enjoyed getting out of our classrooms here at ISM.

February 9th, 2011 No comments

First person to leave me a comment with the answer, gets a surprize!

February 2nd, 2011 No comments

In Francais A, having finished with cafe scenes and ordering basic foods and drinks, we are now looking at some common food types in more detail. There is always a lot of discussion about what we like and dislike, so now is your chance to answer this most important question in more detail. Just to get you thinking, here is my response.

February 2nd, 2011 No comments

This week we started watching the beautiful 1956 French film Le Ballon Rouge. This movie is the basis of our next written Performance Task – a film review. Feel free to watch the film at home – it is easily found on You Tube. We will read examples of film reviews and work on building up some key vocabulary, before we begin writing this review.

La Vie à Manille – c’est COOL!

February 2nd, 2011 No comments

This quarter in Année 5, students are learning about some of the common vocabulary related to life in a city. They are also learning to use regular -er verbs in sentences to explain what one does in some of the places. The students need to learn a pattern for this type of verb and with the help of some games, they are proving to be very good at it!
This will culminate in the creation of a brochure, for French-speaking newcomers to ISM, to inform them of some of the main sites and activities available here in Manila for young people.

Une semaine à Paris….

February 2nd, 2011 No comments

At the moment, students in French Grade 6 are working on their drafts for our Performance Task. They are to imagine a relative is inviting them to spend a week in Paris. They need to plan out the various sites they will see and the activities they will do. All this is to practise the use of the futur proche tense. The final task is to write an email to a friend, telling them all about the (imaginary) upcoming trip. We have spent several lessons learning about a few of the most popular things to see and do in Paris. We have looked at many photos, played around with a panorama, visited websites, read articles and even listened to a song. For some lucky students, this brings back wonderful memories of a family holiday to the City of Lights, while for others, it is opening their eyes to one of the most enchanting cities on the planet.

What would you do, with a week in Paris…..?
